I already have the "American" version of this charger and was looking to get a second one. These are perfect emergency chargers for cellphones when the power goes out. I have several rechargeable USB chargers, but when the power is out for more than a day they don't do much good (can't recharge them without power!). These chargers can use regular AA batteries to recharge cell phones via the USB port. As long as you have a stash of AA batteries, you can keep your phone going until power is restored. Even though this is the Australian version, it does come with a USA plug adapter. It's a bit awkward to use as a regular charger with the USA adapter on it, but since I'm mainly using it as a cheap backup cell charger, I don't care about its recharing abilities. I've removed the Australian plug too so it fits better in the emergency supplies box.

I live in Africa so I looked long and hard for a multi-voltage battery charger. I found two good options but this Duracell one is the best and I'm glad it's still available for a reasonable price.

This is my second time purchasing the Duracell CEF23. I owned my first unit for almost 1-year before it failed but Duracell customer service was good about sending a voucher for a new one.

My most recently purchased unit shipped with the Australian plug but our receptacles/outlets/sockets here receive all manner of plugs so it's not an issue for me. Besides, the seller (zwholesale) included plug adapters (and good quality ones, i might add) so you can plug it in in Europe or America with no difficulty.

I've not tried the USB power feature.

I ordered this product from a company in New York state in the USA. I recieved a product packaged for Australia/New Zeaaland. It had the wrong electrical plug for our system here in Pennsylvania, USA. The product code is CEF23AU, I guess I was supposed to know that this AU meant a product made to be sold in another country? Bedford Power, Brooklyn NY (where I ordered it from) did include several adapters (loose in the envelope) so I could pick the one suitable for my country of use (same as theirs!) but the adapter sticks so far out the back of the wall charger that it doesn't stay in the outlet on the wall. I have another charger (same model) that I bought in a retail store and it has the correct plug and it works great. Duracell makes a good product, just be sure you recieve one you can use in your own country.
