We had a hoover vacuum and it did not clean up the hardwood floors efficiently. This cleans both carpet and the hardwood floors equally and I am pretty impressed with the dirt indicator.

I really like this vacuum! The first time I used it I was completely shocked at the amount of dust/dirt and dog hair it had picked up in my TV room alone. I felt that my previous vacuum was not doing its job. I have two giant dog breeds and this vacuum does a great job getting all the dog hair out of the carpet and rugs. I also really like the small attachment that has rotating brushes as well which I use on my sofas. This vacuum is a little heavy(but not bad) and not the quietest(not the loudest either) but those things do not bother me. The cord is shorter than what I am used to resulting in me having plugging the vacuum in a different outlet with each room however, it does have a retractable cord which makes up shorter length. Overall I am very happy with this vacuum and the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is because I have only had it for about a month and I don't know how it hold up or keep the fabulous suction. I highly recommend this product since so far I have seen nothing but great quality and for a great price.

My wife and I bought the Costco version of this fantastic vacuum cleaner yesterday for $85. It is identical to the Amazon model except it does not indicate when the container is full. This doesn't matter at all to me because I empty if after every vacuum anyway. It picks up so much dust and dander! How it finds so much filth amazes me! We've never owned a vacuum as good and powerful as this one. I highly recommend it. For the price, you can't do better!
